Our first post looked at four well-known companies that have found success with Pinterest. Let’s continue that topic by looking at five more:
Petplan insurance – As their name suggests, this company provides insurance plans for people’s pets. People love their pets, and people love images of pets. Petplan wanted to find a way to advertise their expertise and their unique brand as a top provider of pet health information and services. They looked at the trending pet topics on Pinterest and started creating boards with their captivating magazine images. After only a few months of expanding their Pinterest presence, their social media referral traffic saw a huge boost and they saw a 12.5% increase in requests for pet insurance quotes.
Four Seasons – This luxury hotel brand uses Pinterest to inspire its guests by curating content that focuses on food, travel and the life of luxury. Four Seasons first launched a main Pinterest account. Then, they created individual profiles for over 80 of its properties around the globe. As a result, Four Seasons has seen their Pinterest traffic skyrocket, including a 1,000% boost in visitors and a 1,700% boost in clicks to its homepage from Pinterest. One of their popular boards even uses Place Pins to showcase delicious dishes travelers can find all over the world.
Sephora – Here’s one story that illustrates the advantage of having women outnumber men on Pinterest by such a large margin. Headquartered in Paris, France, Sephora features over 250 brands and 14,000 different beauty products. A few years ago, Sephora noticed that a lot of their products were being featured on Pinterest users’ boards. This meant that Pinterest was introducing Sephora to more and more potential customers. To take advantage of the trend, Sephora undertook a major redesign of its website and added the Pin It button to all of its product pages. Now, with 2,500 pins and almost 14,000 followers, Sephora has an excellent beat on what their customers like and want.
wikiHow – More than 150,00 articles in eight languages make wikiHow the world’s premiere online source for how-to guides. When they were working on a new way to improve their online marketing, they went to Pinterest. By pinning useful how-to content— from How to Create Your Own Temporary Tattoo to How to Tie a Tie—wikiHow’s Pinterest traffic is now four times greater than its Facebook traffic. And when wikiHow sees a particular guide or article has become popular on Pinterest, they can check it for quality and make improvements as needed.
Etsy – What attracted the Etsy team to Pinterest was its visual nature. Etsy saw Pinterest as an ideal mode of showcasing what’s on sale in their marketplace. Each item for sale has the Pin It button added to its page. Items that are pinned from Etsy carry the name of shop selling it, the item’s name, and the item’s price. That way, people who like an item pinned on Pinterest can shop for it with one simple click. This campaign has helped increase seller visibility and recognition, making Etsy all the more attractive to online shops. And people using Pinterest to promote their shops are seeing an increase in their sales.
